At bioIQ, we respect your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website to prepare for NEET Biology. We believe in minimal data collection, maximum transparency, and giving you full ownership of your learning data.
What we collect & why
- Local progress data: Chapter completion, test scores, flashcards, mistake notes, diary entries, and practice history are stored exclusively in your browser using
localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it.
- Authentication (optional): If you choose to create an account, we store your email, name, and a hashed password. We use this only to let you access your progress across devices (coming soon). We never share or sell this information.
- Usage analytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated data (e.g., which chapters are most used) to improve the platform. This data cannot be traced back to you personally.
- Cookies: We use minimal cookies for session management and theming preferences. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
🔒 Data ownership: All your study data — progress, scores, flashcards, diary entries, mistakes — belongs to you. BioIQ acts as a local-first tool. You are in control.
How we protect your data
- No cloud storage for learning data unless you explicitly enable sync (optional). All sensitive information stays on your device.
- We use secure HTTPS to encrypt all data transmitted between your browser and our servers (for authentication and page delivery).
- Passwords are hashed and salted using industry‑standard algorithms before storage.
- We never store or log your payment details — we don't process payments directly.
Third‑party services
BioIQ uses a few trusted services to deliver the best experience:
- Google Drive — to host public study resources (like the “Combined Diagrams & Tables” PDF). We do not access your personal Google account.
- Website delivery — standard server logs may include limited technical information such as an IP address. We do not use this information to identify or profile you.
- Mailto links — email communication (support, feedback) is handled through your default email client. We don't store your email unless you contact us.
Your rights & choices
- View & delete: Since most of your data lives locally, you can clear it at any time via your browser's settings. For cloud-based data (if you sign up), you can request deletion by contacting us.
- Opt out: You can choose not to create an account and still use the majority of features. You can also disable cookies in your browser.
- Export: All your progress is visible inside the app, and we're working on an export feature for backup.
Children's privacy
BioIQ is intended for students preparing for NEET and other competitive exams. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The latest version will always be available at this URL. Significant changes will be communicated via a notice on the website or through email (if you have an account).
